Possibly as many as four people, mostly children, were taken to the hospital following a two vehicle auto accident that occurred on Tuesday evening in the north end of Jasper County.
The volunteers of the Lake Rayburn Fire Department and others were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 96 and Recreational Road 255 shortly before 9:00, when it was reported the crash involving a late model Kia sedan and a Chevrolet Tahoe had occurred.
The firefighters from Lake Rayburn were first to arrive on the scene and immediately went to work treating the injured.
A witness said the Kia was traveling north on Highway 96, when the Chevrolet which as traveling west on Recreational Road 255 failed to stop at the traffic sign and pulled onto Highway 96, in the path of the Kia.
The victims of the crash, all from the Kia were taken by Allegiance EMS ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital where they were at last word still undergoing treatment.
The names of those involved or other details have not been released pending a final report.
