The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Department says they are investigating after a body was found on the Timber Rock Railroad Tracks just west of Merryville. According to Sheriff Mark Herford, his deputies responded to that location shortly before 6:00 Saturday morning when a railroad employee reported finding the body lying on the tracks. Herford said the person was identified as 41-year-old Derek Lynn Galloway, of Merryville. According to the sheriff, it appeared that Galloway had been struck by a train that had previously passed through that area. Meanwhile, Herford says the investigation into the death is continuing.
