The Texas Department of Public Safety says a man riding a moped on Interstate 10 near Winnie was struck by two vehicles and killed. It happened shortly before 6:00 Monday morning. Troopers say the unidentified man was riding a Vespa brand moped, which typically have a top speed of only about 4o miles-per-hour. According to troopers, David Crosby, 36, of Alabama, was driving a 2019 Dodge pickup truck and hit the moped from behind, which threw the rider off. The rider was then run over by a 2008 Ford SUV, driven by Jere Norbert, 39, of Port Arthur. The name of the moped operator has not yet been released as troopers try to find and notify next-of-kin.
