A man died Monday afternoon as he was trimming a tree. Jasper County Deputy Karli Cherry said the 66-year-old was up on a ladder when a large limb knocked him to the ground. The incident happened at about 2:30 in the 2100 block of Farm to Market Road 2938, just southeast of Buna. Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Gina Cleveland pronounced the man dead at the scene and she has ordered an autopsy. As of late Monday afternoon, the name of the man had not yet been released pending notification of next-of-kin.
