Man arrested in Deweyville on drug, weapon charges after ATV traffic stop

DEWEYVILLE, Texas (KTRE) - A man is facing drug and weapon charges after a Newton County deputy found suspected meth and a handgun during a traffic stop Friday.

According to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped Michael Ray Perry on a four-wheeler near the intersection of Spur 272 and County Road 4191 in Deweyville on Dec. 26.

During the stop, the sheriff’s office said the deputy found Perry in possession of a clear, crystal-like substance believed to be meth. The deputy also found a handgun on Perry.

Perry was arrested and booked into the Newton County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
