Man Arrested After Short Pursuit, Deputies Find Meth, Gun, and Stolen Property

The Tyler County Sheriff’s Department says a man is currently free from jail on a $7,500.00 bond following an arrest on multiple charges.

According to Sheriff Bryan Weatherford, it began when deputies tried to stop 24-year-old Spurger resident Stephen Gordon when he was driving a Dodge pickup truck on Farm to Market Road 92 in the Dam B area. However, Weatherford said Gordon refused to stop and continued about 3 miles before stopping and surrendering.

After initially refusing to exit his truck, Weatherford said Gordon finally did and he was taken into custody, after which Weatherford said deputies found in the truck methamphetamine and a loaded pistol, along with items that had recently been reported stolen in that same area.

Gordon was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Motor Vehicle, and No Drivers License. Weatherford says Gordon and others associated with him face more charges related to the stolen items.
