A man accused of identity theft and using a Jasper County man’s credit cards both before and after he died is now in custody. Family members of the late Joe Orton contend that Bryan Kale Jones had stolen Orton’s identity and was using his credit cards. Orton died in late March at the age of 71. Jefferson County Sheriff Zena Stephens says that Jones was recently arrested there on a drug crime warrant, and he also faces a motion to revoke probation in Chambers County on a previous drug conviction. Now, an investigation into identity theft and credit/debit card abuse is underway here in Jasper County.
