LINDALE, Texas (KLTV) - A man was arrested on Saturday after, according to the arrest affidavit, he punched a member of law enforcement.
Andrew Edward Hist was driving was driving his vehicle down a street in the area of 114 Cannery Row. The roadway was blocked off, and Lindale Police Chief Dan Somes was directing traffic away from it.
According to the affidavit, Hist wanted to turn down that road but could not, so he pulled over his vehicle, got out and walked over to Somes. He then punched Somes in the face. Witnesses who saw Hist assault the police chief came to assist him in detaining Hist until backup arrived.
When another officer arrived after hearing Somes radio for help, he saw that Hist was detained, and he secured him in the backseat of his police vehicle.
Hist was arrested and charged with assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest, search or transport.
He was booked into the Smith County Jail at 12:33 a.m. Sunday morning. According to judicial records, he has not bonded out of the jail.
