Man accused of $30k damage to new park in Sabine County

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

The first phase of Pendleton Recreational Area Park had been complete for only five days when the Sabine County Sheriff’s Department says a man intentionally did more than $30,000.00 damage to the new facility over the weekend. The $7 million park is being built by the Sabine River Authority on the shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir in the Pendleton Harbor Community. According to Sabine County investigators, 19-year-old Gary Joe Farmer not only committed the crime, but it was also captured on video by one of his friends and then posted on social media. Deputies obtained a warrant for State Jail Felony Criminal Mischief and Farmer turned himself in at the Sabine County Jail where he was booked in under a $50,000.00 bond on Monday.
