Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a major accident just west of Jasper late Tuesday afternoon. It occurred shortly after 4:00 on Highway 190 West in front of the Texas Department of Transportation Office.
State Trooper Stephanie Davis said the crash occurred as a 2010 Dodge pick up truck was headed eastbound on Highway 190. Davis said it appeared that a 2015 GMC Yukon, which was traveling west, had stopped in the turn lane, when the Dodge veered over and hit the Yukon head on.
The driver of the GMC, 60 year old Jeri Flurry of Jasper and her two year old granddaughter, were both transported to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Robert Carey, 54 of Brookeland was also transported to Christus Jasper Memorial with what was said to be minor injuries.
The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department assisted in rescuing the victims of the accident from the vehicles and emergency medical technicians from Care-Plus EMS treated the injured at the scene, before transporting them to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.
