Lufkin Police say a man was shot dead after answering a knock at his door late Monday night. Police say it happened shortly after 11:00 in the two block of Maberry Street, located in a middle class neighborhood on the northeast side of that city. According to police, other family members were in a different room in the house and they told officers that they never saw the suspect or heard anything said. The victim, 48-year-old Richard Charles Coutee, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police have no information about the suspect as they continue to investigate.
