Many residents of our area enjoy getaways to the New Orleans French Quarter. However, a dramatic increase in violent crime has curbed the plans of many people to visit the “Crescent City”. Louisiana State Police have responded by announcing that they will be assigning forty state troopers to work in and around New Orleans to assist New Orleans Police with handling the crime epidemic. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry made a promise to assist New Orleans Police as the department faces a manpower shortage coupled with the rise in crime. The deployment is planned for March and in addition to the city of New Orleans, troopers will be out in force throughout Orleans Parish.
