VINTON, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man is dead after a single-vehicle crash between Vinton and the Texas state line, authorities said.

The crash claimed the life of Steven Rossiter, 76, of Lake Charles, Trooper Roy Jones of LSP said.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on March 3, Rossiter was driving west on the I-10 service road approaching Steward Road, Jones said. For reasons still under investigation, he drove off the road, hit a ditch, and overturned.

Rossiter suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died, Jones said.

Standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis.

According to Jones, Rossiter was properly restrained at the time of the crash.
