LAFAYETTE, La. (KPLC) - A Lafayette man is accused of attempted murder after stabbing his caretaker over the weekend, according to authorities.
Jarrod Degroat, 56, faces a count of attempted second-degree murder.
Around 8:30 a.m. on April 18, the caretaker was at Degroat’s home on North Domingue Avenue when, for unknown reasons, Degroat grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
The victim was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released, LPSO said.
Degroat was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Jail.
LPSO said no further details on the case are being released at this time.
