Kirbyville Police Chief Paul Brister says a man was hit over the head with a shovel and struck in the face with brass knuckles during a late Wednesday afternoon dispute over property. Brister said it occurred shortly before 5:00 in the area of Martin Luther King Street and Herndon Avenue. According to Brister, the suspect fled the scene prior to officers arriving, but he said that they already know who he is. Meanwhile, Brister said the victim was being flown by medical helicopter to a Beaumont hospital after paramedics said that he possibly had a skull fracture and a brain injury. The names of the suspect and the victim were not immediately available.
