Kirbyville Police Chief Paul Brister said Thursday that his department is investigating an auto-pedestrian hit-and-run case. Brister said it happened early Wednesday evening on Martin Luther King near Highway 96.
Brister said 38-year-old Dusty Lummus was walking when he was ran over by an unknown vehicle, and the driver fled the scene without stopping. Brister said there were no witnesses to the incident, and he had no information on a possible suspect vehicle.
According to Brister, Lummus was flown by medical helicopter to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where it was determined that his injuries were not as severe as initially thought, and he was released from the hospital on Thursday.
