SHREVEPORT, La. -- A Keithville man has been arrested in connection with a series of copper wire thefts that caused more than $15,000 in losses, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office Persons and Property Crimes Unit executed a search warrant Wednesday at a home on Big Oaks Trail as part of an investigation into multiple copper wire thefts reported in the area over the past several months, Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. said.

The investigation began after theft reports were filed by AT&T, SWEPCO, Xfinity, Comcast and Ternium USA. Authorities said the combined losses from the thefts exceeded $15,000.

During the search, detectives found evidence and information linking Bailey Higdon, 30, to the thefts, according to the sheriff’s office. Higdon was detained while investigators continued processing the scene.

Following the investigation, Higdon was charged with three counts of felony theft. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.

Anyone with information about the thefts is urged to contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 675-2170 or submit anonymous tips through Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
