NATCHITOCHES, La. - Natchitoches police arrested a juvenile after he ran from police in the 500 block of Texas street Friday.
At around 11:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area in response to reports of kids in possession of guns. When officers arrived, the suspects ran toward the Highland Park neighborhood.
After a long chase, one juvenile was caught near Rowena Street and arrested without incident.
During the pursuit, the suspect threw away a firearm which was later recovered by police. A second stolen firearm was located during a search warrant at a nearby home.
Both firearms were reported stolen through the Shreveport and Natchitoches Police Departments.
The juvenile faces charges of possession of stolen firearms, possession of a firearm by a juvenile and simple possession of marijuana.
The juvenile was placed in a detention facility in Jackson Parish.
The investigation is ongoing.
