Judge Mark Allen urges caution if burning

Jasper County Commissioners voted to allow the Burn Ban to expire on October 17^th at midnight. As of 3 pm on October 18, there have been up to five fires throughout the county. Judge Mark Allen said they are closely monitoring closely the weather conditions and monitoring the fires throughout the county. He stated that if the fires get more extreme or multi-acre fire situations, the court will consider issuing a new declaration. Judge Allen stated, “I urge people to be smart. If you don't think you're safe to burn, don't burn. If you think it's safe to burn, then have water source close at hand and monitor it very closely. Do not leave the fire until it's fully extinguished.” He also cautioned that Wind speed and direction is a factor as well in deciding if it is safe to burn.
