Jennie Wyatt Olsen, a former Jasper County District Attorney now assistant district attorney for Sabine County, plans to run for the new district attorney position created by the legislature.
The first election for the newly created Sabine County District Attorney position will be held during the November general election in 2028.
The new 273rd Judicial District and the independent DA position will officially take effect on January 1st, 2029. The person elected in November 2028 will assume office at that time.
Until then, Paul A. Robbins, of San Augustine, will continue to serve as the District Attorney for the 1st Judicial District covering both Sabine and San Augustine counties. He was re-elected in the November 2024 general election to his current position.
