LASALLE PARISH, La. (KALB) - A man from Jena died in a fatal boating incident on Little River.
According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the body of Hugh E. Edwards, 69, was recovered around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 13.
LDWF said they were notified about a missing boater around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 12. Edwards’ unmanned boat was found around 10:15 p.m.
LDWF’s Enforcement Division will be leading the investigation into the death. They shared that it is unknown at this time what caused Edwards to go overboard. They did confirm that his body was found without wearing a personal flotation device.
Edwards’ body was turned over to the LaSalle Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
