An inmate in the federal prison in Jefferson County has died after being found unresponsive in his cell late Saturday afternoon.
According to a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, 31-year-old Amadeo M. Lailes was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he died. However, no other information has been released.
Lailes began serving a 6 year sentence in March of 2024 for a bank robbery that occurred in New Mexico. Lailes had also been charged with robbing a credit union in New Mexico while he was out on bond and waiting for trial on the bank robbery charge.
