Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard announced late Thursday that a woman from the Jasper Area, who was accused of trying to solicit sex from a 12 year old boy had been arrested and was being held at the Jasper County Jail.
Officers said the arrest came shortly after 4:00 pm, when 26-year-old Suzanna Mendoza, was taken into custody following an investigation that had been going on for several days.
Investigator Calvin Starkie headed up the investigation, which was initiated by the teen's parents after they became suspicious.
Sheriff Chuck Havard said "I appreciate the hard work of Investigator Starkie. He had to work extremely fast because it is believed the suspect is an illegal immigrant and she threatened to flee the country. The appropriate federal authorities will be contacted."
