Jasper Police and Animal Control investigated two animal cruelty cases in recent days. In the first case, Sergeant Jimmy Neel filed a report saying that a dog was found chained outside and nearly starved to death at a house in the 600 block of East Gibson Street. The report said Jasper Animal Control seized multiple neglected dogs at the property while the owner, 52-year-old Mark Ward, was arrested on an Animal Cruelty charge. In the second case, Sergeant Clint Fowler filed a report saying that Animal Control discovered that a dog had been left outside in sub-freezing weather with no food, water, or shelter. It happened at The Park Apartments on Marvin Hancock Drive. The report said the owner of the dog was issued a citation.
