Jasper-Newton Electric Co-Op has sent a crew of a dozen men to help put the grid back together and get the power back on in storm ravaged southeast Louisiana. Category 2 Hurricane Francine went in near Morgan City on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in wind damage and flooding across the region. The Jasper-Newton crew will be working in the area of Greenwell Springs, which is just northeast of Baton Rouge, and they’ll be assisting crews from Dixie Electric Membership Corporation. As of Thursday, there were just under 400,000 power outages.
