Jasper man going to federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas has announced that a Jasper man will be going to federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations. Prosecutors say 44-year-old Larry Buckley, who already had multiple felony convictions, recently pleaded guilty to charges of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone sentenced Buckley to 21 years and 10 months of federal prison time. According to prosecutors, in October of 2022 an investigation on the local, state, and federal level identified Buckley as a source of supply for a big drug trafficking operation that was distributing large amounts of methamphetamine and also selling firearms in the Jasper and Lufkin areas.
