Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Jasper County's first Coronavirus patient has died. County Judge Mark Allen confirmed Sunday evening that the 69-year-old Jasper resident, James "Jim" Washburn, passed away at St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Word came one week ago, on March 29th, that Washburn had a confirmed case of the dreaded illness and he had been hospitalized ever since.

Meanwhile, there's no word on the condition of two other Coronavirus patients from Jasper County. The only information known about them is that they reside in Buna.

Judge Allen on Sunday evening strongly urged citizens to use every precaution to protect yourself and your families from Coronavirus.
