The judges smacked their lips and agreed that the barbecue cooked by the Jasper County Area Go Texan cook-off team was the best. The verdict was handed down on Saturday evening at the Houston Fat Stock Show and Rodeo when the group was selected as Grand Champion Overall The group is not new to the cooking competition. They have been doing it for probably 40 years or more with the goal of not only winning a trophy, but to raise money for a scholarship fund that is doled out each years to students in Jasper County. The local group competed with over 250 other teams from across the state to win the honor.
