The Texas Department of Public Safety says Jasper City Attorney Michael Stewart Ratcliff, age 71, has been arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated. According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, the arrest came after a trooper stopped Ratcliff for an equipment violation as he was driving a Toyota Rav-4 on West Houston Street near Live Oak Lane in Jasper shortly before 6:00 Sunday evening. Sergeant Clark said the trooper observed signs of impairment and following a series of standardized field sobriety tests, Ratcliff was determined to be intoxicated and placed under arrest. Ratcliff was taken to the Jasper County Jail to await arraignment.
