Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports the inmate litter crew collected 136 bags of trash along US Highway 171 between Many and Florien just today, March 3, 2026.
These 11 inmates are supervised by Deputy Mike Rutherford and Deputy Steve Procell. They pick up trash along the highways a couple days a week every month across Sabine Parish.
Approximately 754 bags were collected along 71 miles of roadways in January. 1054 bags were collected along 91 miles of roadways in February.
Sheriff Mitchell encourages everyone to do their part and not litter. Deputies will issue citations to anyone caught littering or illegally dumping trash in Sabine Parish.
