There has been no word from local law enforcement, but the prison watchdog group known as TDCJ Troll is reporting that an inmate within the confines of the Gib Lewis unit in nearby Woodville was found dead in his bunk on Thursday.
According to the report 32-year-old Matthew Tyler Wellman was pronounced dead at the scene and it is believed he died of heart attack. However, an autopsy has been ordered.
The report says Wellman, who was from Parker County was serving a seven year sentence for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon would have been eligible for parole in January 2030.
