Injuries Reported in Crash Just West of Jasper

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a total of nine people – seven of which were children – were injured when an SUV and a van collided shortly before 10:00 Thursday night just west of Jasper. It happened where Highway 63 West intersects with Farm to Market Roads 2799 and 3414.

According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, a 2009 Saturn SUV was traveling westbound on Highway 63 and was hit on the driver side by a 2000 Chevrolet SUV which was eastbound on Highway 63 and had taken the exit for FM 2799 and did not stop at the yield sign. The Saturn van rolled over on the grassy median, while the Chevrolet SUV spun around and remained on the roadway.

Driver – Kara Johnson, 30, of Kountze - St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont

Passenger – 4-year-old - St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont

Passenger – 6-year-old - Jasper Memorial Hospital

Passenger – 6-year-old - Jasper Memorial Hospital

Passenger – 7-year-old - Jasper Memorial Hospital

Passenger – 10-year-old - Jasper Memorial Hospital
