Hit and run incident in Vernon Parish leaves woman dead

Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft and Louisiana State Police are looking for a vehicle and it's driver following a hit and run incident that occurred on Friday, leaving a woman dead. Officers with Louisiana State Police Troop E said the incident occurred shortly after 7:00 on Saturday night on Louisiana Highway in near Tom Beckcom Road, northwest of Vernon Lake when a vehicle that was reportedly traveling southbound, hit a woman who was walking alongside the road and killed her. Officers said the vehicle did not stop and kept going. Troopers believe hit and run vehicle to be an older model (1994-1995) Ford Mustang silver in color. They said the vehicle may also have an exhaust that emits moderate sound. Troopers are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the unknown vehicle or the identity of the pedestrian to call Troop E at (318) 487-5911. The crash remains under investigation.
