Heavy winds and rain drops trees knocking out power — BDC archive

A band of thunderstorms passed through the Jasper Area around 4:00 on Tuesday afternoon producing high winds and around a half inch of rain.

As in previous weeks, the storm caused trees on roads and power lines prompting volunteer firemen from numerous departments to be dispatched to clear roadways.

Electric power to many homes in the county.

Later in the evening the Jasper Newton Electric Cooperative reported that around 2,300 of it's members were without electricity and Entergy reported that around 175 of it's customers were without electricity in Tyler County.

Many line were busy working to restore power.
