LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - On Saturday, Lufkin police arrested a man for interfering with their investigation of a shots fired call.
Courtney Howard was charged with interfering with public duties after he would not move from the doorway of the home where the shots were reportedly fired.
Responding to a call from a neighbor who said she and her son had been threatened with being shot by a female neighbor, officers went to the suspected home and were met by two men at the door. The two stood in the doorway and said there were no weapons in the house.
Within a few minutes, police say, they heard a gunshot inside the home. They knew neither of the men who’d been in the doorway had a gun based on the clothing they were wearing, so again they requested the men move from the doorway. One of the men moved, but Howard would not move, they said.
Officers could see a female inside the house, but Howard still refused to move. As officers forcibly moved Howard and place him in handcuffs, they could see the woman begin having a seizure.
They were finally able to enter the residence and take the female outside to Lufkin paramedics for care.
Then the house was cleared, and no one was injured. Howard is in the Angelina County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
