Jasper Police said Monday that a local man who suffered a gunshot wound over the weekend later died in a Beaumont hospital. The incident occurred at about 6:00 Saturday evening at a house in the 900 block of Vine Street in southeast Jasper.
Police say that it was believed to have been self-inflicted, but whether it was accidental or intentional is not known.
Marvis Wilson, 46 was pronounced dead by Jefferson County Precinct 1, Place 2 Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr. who has requested an autopsy.
The local investigation is being conducted by Detective Cody Christopher.
