September 19, 2023 @ 9:30AM - Sheriff Aaron Mitchell reports one adult and one juvenile have been arrested for breaking into a camp near Toledo Bend Lake. On Wednesday morning, September 13, 2023, Sabine Parish Sheriff CID received a report of a wrecked golf cart that was hidden behind a residence on Shad Street. Patrol Deputy Denny Rush began investigating the case and photos of the damaged cart were shared via social media to determine the owner. The owners from south Louisiana were identified and said they owned a camp on Bluegill Lane. On Thursday evening, September 14th, the owners arrived at their camp and discovered the shed was broken into and both of their golf carts were missing. Deputy Rush and Deputy Dylan Alford determined the suspects were a 14-year-old male juvenile and 19-year-old Angel Johnson, both live on Shad Street. Deputies contacted the father and the juvenile confessed to entering the shed with Johnson. The juvenile said they hid the golf carts in the woods nearby. The juvenile admitted he went riding on the golf cart with two other young juvenile females Tuesday night, September 12th. The juvenile said he wrecked the gold cart and tried to hide it. Johnson admitted she drove the other golf cart. Johnson was arrested and booked into the Sabine Parish Women's Jail late Thursday night for:
- Simple burglary,
- 2-counts of Theft of motor vehicle,
- Contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
Her bond was set at $4000, she remains in jail. Sheriff Detectives assisted and followed up with the case and the 14-year-old was arrested for:
- Simple burglary,
- 2-counts of Theft of motor vehicle,
- Simple criminal damage to property over $1000,
- Criminal trespass.
The juvenile was released to his father pending possible incarceration. Sheriff Mitchell commends Deputies Rush and Alford for their extra effort and putting in long hours to solve this case.
