Gilmer man arrested in connection with alleged drug-deal shooting

UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - Investigators say a dispute over drugs led to a Sunday night shooting. According to information from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the 1600 block of Lupine Road shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday in response to a reported shooting. When they arrived, the deputies said they found an 18-year-old male who had been shot multiple times after a dispute over payment for marijuana. The victim was then transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The report states that Shaun Michael Brown, 19, of Gilmer, was arrested at the scene and then booked into the Upshur County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a total bond amount of $100,000. Investigators said a firearm was recovered at the scene, as was several ounces of marijuana.
