Jasper Fire Chief Brandon Duckworth says what was reported to be a smell of natural gas in the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department on Friday afternoon turned out to be a hydraulic fluid leak. Firefighters responded to the building at 101 Burch Street shortly after 3:00 and soon located the source of the smell as hydraulic fluid leaking from a door closer.
