Four people underwent treatment following a two-vehicle accident in north Jasper County on Sunday afternoon. It happened shortly after 3:00 on Highway 96 at County Road 219 in the Brookeland area. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, 76-year-old Dann Smith, of Brookeland, was driving a Jeep Cherokee on County Road 219. Clark said Smith ran a stop sign and pulled onto Highway 96 into the path of a southbound Chrysler van, driven by Lasean Patrick, Sr, 43, of Buna. Sergeant Clark said two passengers in the van went to Jasper Memorial Hospital, another passenger went to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, and Smith went to Jasper Memorial Hospital. All of their injuries were described as non-life threatening.
