Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft says that his deputies along with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Department have arrested four people on numerous charges. The arrests came Wednesday when officers closed in to arrest a fugitive sex offender from Florida in a trailer park south of Leesville.
According to Craft, deputies were looking for Chad Andrew Roe, 28, of Lakeland, Florida, after they received a tip that he would be inside a mobile home. Craft said Roe was wanted in Florida in relation to sexual offenses against children, specifically having been convicted of violent sexual offenses against a child under the age of 13.
Craft said deputies discovered in the house Steven Lee Johnston, 32, and Brandy Lee Lucas, 37, both of Leesville, along with Vicky Marie McMurtury, 33, of DeRidder. Craft also said deputies found methamphetamine, pills, and drug paraphernalia.
Also in the house, according to Craft, were four young children, and while deputies were there a fifth child got off of a school bus.
Craft said Roe tried to flee from deputies, but they were able to take him into custody. Sheriff Craft noted that one deputy received minor injuries from Roe resisting arrest.
