Former Tyler County coach and youth pastor convicted for child sex crimes

A man who was previously a coach and youth pastor in Tyler County has been convicted in Liberty County for child sex crimes.

Jeffrey Brent Martin, 37, was found guilty on charges of Sexual Assault of a Child and Attempt to Commit Indecency with a Child by Exposure.

It happened while Martin worked at Hull-Daisetta High School. Prosecutors say he began a relationship with a 15-year-old girl which lasted into her junior year of high school.

Martin was ordered to serve weekends in the Liberty County Jail for 3 years and he’s also on 10 years of probation. Martin will also be a lifetime registered sex offender.
