A former administrator for Red River Parish Communications District has been arrested after allegedly paying herself an additional $17,000 between 2016 and 2018.
Jennifer Mahfouz, 41, was charged with theft, false accounting, fraud, second degree injuring public records, filing false public records, and malfeasance in office.
A legislative audit initially alleged that Mahfouz gave herself 10 additional paychecks and altered the district’s accounting records to hide it. Mahfouz was responsible for overseeing 911 operations, as well as paying bills, issuing paychecks and entering transactions into the electronic accounting system.
A grand jury indicted Mahfouz on Friday, following an investigation by the Louisiana Attorney General’s office.

My office remains committed to doing all we can to ensure public servants act in a manner that is both lawful and admirable. I commend DA Jones for her attention as this case moves forward." said Attorney General Jeff Landry.
“I have a responsibility to the community to make sure everyone honors the law,” said Red River District Attorney Julie Jones. “I appreciate the diligence by General Landry and his office in this matter.”
Mahfouz was fired from her position on April 8, according to the audit.
