OAKDALE, La. (KPLC) - A former Oakdale police officer was arrested for raping a young girl, deputies said.
A note was turned in to staff at a school saying Matthew DeLeon, 37, had sexually assaulted a child under 13, Allen Parish Sheriff Doug Hebert said. Staff reported the note to detectives on March 18.
Detectives investigated the allegations and arrested DeLeon today, Sheriff Hebert said. He was booked on counts of molestation of a juvenile and first-degree rape of a victim under 13.
DeLeon was an Oakdale police officer who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor simple battery in connection with the 2019 death of inmate Richard Rosier. He received a suspended six-month jail term and a year of probation.
