Polk County Today is reporting that firefighters around the Livingston area have been busy dealing with wildfires as a drought and an intense heat wave continues across the Lone Star State.
One of those fires occurred on Wednesday afternoon at an RV park just north of Livingston. Despite a burn ban in Polk County, Livingston Fire Chief Corky Cochran said a burn pile that grew out of control was the suspected cause.
Another fire occurred early Thursday evening in the Camden Community. The report said that blaze was quite large and threatened at least one house. It took the combined efforts of the Corrigan, Livingston, Alabama Coushatta, and Indian Springs Fire Departments to finally bring it under control.
