The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department were dispatched to an alleyway behind the Provalus Building at the corner of Main and Houston Streets in Downtown Jasper, shortly before midnight on Sunday evening, when it was reported that a trash dumpster was on fire. The firemen arrived on the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze before it spread to any adjoining structures or property. It was the second time this year that the same dumpster has caught on fire. However, there is no word on what sparked the blaze. No injuries resulted from the incident. A short time later, just after 1:00 on Sunday morning the Jasper Firemen were dispatched to the community room of the Maple Court Apartments at 150 Rosewood Drive, across from Walmart, when it was reported that a fire alarm was sounding there. However, that call turned out to be a false alarm.
