The U.S. Department of Justice has announced criminal charges against thirty-six defendants across the country accused of medical fraud crimes, and those indictments include people from this region.
The feds say the suspects pocketed a combined total of more than $1.2 billion through schemes which included telemedicine, cardiovascular and cancer testing, along with medical equipment.
In the Eastern District of Texas, the suspects included William Todd Hickman, 59, of Lumberton, Jeffrey Paul Parnell, 54, of Tyler, and Stephen Kash, 48, of Winnie. Federal prosecutors say their charges are related to medical kickbacks and money laundering.
