East Texas man dies in Ouachita Parish crash

OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened on Saturday, November 30, just before 3 p.m. LSP says 71-year-old Johnnie Lott, Jr., of Carthage, Texas was driving north on Louisiana Hwy. 143 near New Wall Lake Rd. when his vehicle left the road and overturned. According to LSP, Lott was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment is not suspected, LSP says. However, routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. “Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle,” reads a press release from LSP. “Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Follow all traffic laws and ensure every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.” The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
