DV Training

Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (LCADV) presented domestic violence training for law enforcement at Project Celebration, Inc. (PCI) in Many this morning. LCADV Letisha Davis was the instructor for the class. Sabine Parish Sheriff Detectives & Dispatchers, Many Police Officers, Department of Child & Family Services (DCFS), and Sabine Parish District Attorney's Office were in attendance. As Domestic Violence Awareness Month continues, it is important we recognize the signs and how to properly investigate accusations of domestic abuse. Sheriff Aaron Mitchell wanted to specifically recognize the 6 Sheriff's Office Dispatchers who attended the training class. Dispatchers have typically not attended DV training in the past, but these women are the vital, first line of communication when victims call the Sheriff's Office for help. PCI provided breakfast snacks, a lunch, and door prizes for the 17 attendees. Another training session is scheduled tomorrow, October 19th from 9AM-12PM at PCI. All local law enforcement, prosecutors, and DCFS are strongly encouraged to attend. Sheriff Mitchell greatly thanks LCADV and PCI for their continued efforts to partner with the Sheriff's Office to help victims of domestic violence.
