Duncan says thieves hitting the Buna area

Jasper County Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan said Thursday that thieves have been hitting the Buna area pretty hard over the last several days. Duncan says there has been a rash of burglaries and thefts in that part of the county. According to Duncan, houses have been burglarized and they’re stealing scrap iron along with various items from different work sites. He also said that they’re targeting hunting camps at deer leases. Duncan said when you leave your hunting camp unattended, either take your all-terrain vehicle with you or securely chain it up so that it can’t be stolen. Meanwhile, Duncan said “If you see something, say something”, emphasizing that many crimes are solved by people simply calling the sheriff’s department to report suspicious activity.
